Check in/out

Check out for inhouse guests is at 11am. If we have availability, we can provide early check in. However for very early arrivals it is recommended that you book your Darwin accommodation for the night before to guarantee a room on arrival.

Check in after hours is available as long as you have booked for the night before. For any help with late arrivals please call 0487 850 345.

Hopefully your room will be available for this service on this day. Preferably you advise reception on checkin so housekeeping can re-arrange other booking in advance. Fees vary seasonally and by the length of the extension required.

Normally we are able to extend and a rate lower than some of the advertised rates. On check in alert the staff to your possible future requirement.

Beds Cots, Rollaways & Sofas

We have number of unit types each with different configurations but mainly queens. However we also have, twin rooms, family rooms and some with divans. All the room types can be viewed here.

Deluxe, , Family and Two bedroom apartments can house a rollaway. All units can house a cot.

 

Cots are $30 per stay. Rollaways and Sofabed bedding are $50 per night. This fee includes free full buffet breakfast for the additional person. Only certain rooms have sofabeds. If you enquire directly we have all configurations including  2-3-4-5 bedded units.

Breakfast & Dining Details

Horizen Café is our restaurant on Level 3, next to the pool and overlooking the harbour.

We are open from 6 am daily

We provide a full buffet breakfast for each unit occupant for the duration of the stay. The selection of both hot and continental dishes with some daily changes and an emphasis in providing vegan, vegetarian , and gluten free in the buffet. Typically there are a choice of 3 egg styles, bacon, baked beans, sausages, meatballs, potato wedges, mushrooms, fried rice, savoury vegetables, tropical fruit salad, yogurts, toast, cereals, cakes, sweet items and other continental delights. Tea and filter coffee is included in the breakfast and barista made coffee can be purchased at an additional cost.

Takeaway is available during service times however at the moment we do not offer room service.  Outside of the restaurant opening hours a vending machine on the ground floor is available.

At breakfast you can request a container for those not wishing to come down or incapacitated.

Horizen Cafe is fully licensed selling beers, wines, spirits and softdrinks for consumption in the restaurant. In addition the Penthouse is open for guests staying at the hotel. Both locations offer great views over the harbour.

Full buffet breakfast is complimentary for all registered guests; that is the number you specified when booking. Generally it is 2 breakfasts for  Executive and Deluxe rooms, 4 for two bedrooms and 5 for family rooms. If you booked additional people or bedding this is also included. Additional breakfasts are $25 per person.

Apartment Specifics

The Deluxe apartments are much larger at 64sqm and have a separate bedroom and much larger living area.

Some Deluxes can be used for 3-4 persons and others with the additional hire of a rollaway or use of divan

Without a doubt for the best Darwin sunset views you should book the Executive City View apartments or the Family apartments. The Deluxe apartment have a side view of the sunset and city.

All suites and rooms contain a kitchen with full sized fridge, washing machine, dryer, microwave, oven, dishwasher, cooktop, toaster, kettle and cooking and dining implements. These include, saucepans, frypans, knives, cutlery, plates, bowls, wine glasses, glasses, tea and coffee cups.

All apartments have a washing machine/ dryer and drying rack.

We have commercial washing machines that may also be used on request.

Every single apartment in our building has a 12sqm balcony with table and chairs.

Pool side apartments have a private courtyard that you can walk out to the pool from.

 

There are both airconditioners and fans as well as cooling breezes and wide opening doors onto the balcony

We have four rooms available with accessible bathrooms.

Our swimming pool also has a hoist for accessible access to the pool and staff onsite who can assist as well as a ramp access to the pool and steps with rails.

There are designated car spaces for this purpose. Some mobility chairs are also available at no cost. More details can be found here

The Executive harbour view apartments and most two bedroom apartments overlook the harbour and are best for viewing the sunrise.

Transport & Parking

We do not normally offer a hotel shuttle to or from the airport . Our staff can arrange in advance for you could however you can book a hotel shuttle from this link.

If there are two or more travellers it is more cost effective to get a taxi or UBER from the airport.  The full transport options from the Darwin Airport can be found here

 

Yes

In the interests of providing extra value for our guests, we offer complimentary parking with all bookings.

We now offer complimentary transfers for guests to go to the Mindil beach markets and for those guests requiring a transfer to the Ghan

Other

All bookings include unlimited complimentary high speed NBN Wi-Fi. It is often commented by guests about how fast and reliable our internet is. We claim it is the fastest in Darwin

Credit card fees are only charged on bookings made on online travel agent sites. i.e. booking.com , expedia, agoda, and others. If you book direct with our hotel we do not charge credit card fees.  There is an ATM conveniently located on site.

Smoking is permitted on the unit balconies and other selected areas around the hotel.

Darwin is fortunate in having monsoonal water producing adequate annual fresh water . Bottled water is not required and  can be an additional saving in a visit. It can be used directly from the tap.

This is located at the tour desk and reception area. For simple and minor works there are no charges.

This varies quite considerably based on the staff we have at the time. Mainly English, Mandarin, Indonesian, Filipino, Greek, Spanish, Thai and some other European.

In the reception area we have a dedicated tour desk with brochures for most tours, and a second brochure rack located outside Horizen Cafe. Our reception team are able to recommend and book tours on your behalf.

We offer complementary luggage storage for your belongings for late checkouts or for when you are doing overnight trips to the national parks. There is no fee for this service. However if you are only going away for a night or two  - ask us about our special rates so that you can keep all your belongings in the same room.

Security Bonds

The Security bond is $100 and this is taken as a hold charge on your credit card and will be released after departure  less any incidentals – if they were not charged on check-out. For cash deposits it is $500.

Your security bond is released on day of departure and depending on your bank can take 3-10 days.  Unless paid by cash, then you will receive it on checkout.
