The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
This museum should be visited whether it is raining or not. It has a large selection of aboriginal arts and crafts, vessels from overseas, bird and insect specimens and an interactive feature where you can experience what it was like in Cyclone Tracy. Plus, there is a great coffee shop attached.

These tunnels were built during World War 2 to protect and store oil from being bombed by the Japanese. A part of the Waterfront Precinct, these offer an interesting insight into the wartime history and the bombing of Darwin.

Not everyone knows that war came to Australia on 19th February 1942 when Darwin was bombed. The Defence of Darwin experience gives you access to both this knowledge and the Darwin Military Museum. This is the largest shopping centre in Darwin and perfect to go to when its raining. All of the shops and carparks are undercover and you will find major stores and brands here. We would only recommend this as a wet weather option in Darwin as you will find the same stores here as other regional shopping centres interstate. Darwin City has better boutique shopping options for non-rainy days.
